BACK IN THE DAY
As a wee child I was always drawn to rocks and stones. I loved the way they felt in my hand. The sound they made underneath my shoes when I walked across them. The way nature made them all different and diverse. I would pick them from the ground and bring them home. I can imagine Mom's face when she turned out my pockets before doing the laundry. They were my bountiful finds, trinkets, much like a Pirate's treasures! I always had a hand in crafty things, making gifts for my loved ones. I love the feeling of giving OOAK pieces that nobody else in the world has. #craftybitch
STUCK IN THE MIDDLE
I started Designs & Imaging by Xenia in 2001 finally quitting my day job to pursue my creative dreams and share my wares like a gypsy. I worked closely in the beautiful Houston Height's growing Art circuit on 19th Street and had my creations in various digs around Houston including an Art gallery, a few hair salons as well as an Art framing gallery. In September 2008, the famous Hurricane Ike touched down and sent Houston's thriving economy into recovery leaving my energies in a torrent of negativity. I would walk past my studio and an overwhelming hurt would pass through my being. I was afraid to create again. I didn't want any of my bad feelings to pass through into my beautiful passion, so I put it all on the back burner and stifled it. #artistherapy
RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW
Slowly as the time passed and healed the city as well as my heart, I began doing custom commissions here and there bringing me to the present. The fire inside started to ember and burn brighter and I am again consumed. I was always conservative with my work in the past but with age comes a great feeling of carelessness, unconcerned with being comforting to appease the masses. I will release all of my hesitations. With that being said, I welcome and embrace my Wicked Bohemian Soul...
